Infused Water

Limes_In_Water

Spring is here and the sizzling weather is coming sooner than we think. With that comes hectic schedules and days filled with outdoor activities. This usually results in us grabbing an ice-cold soda or juice to quench our thirst. We all know that sugary drinks aren’t good for us, but water is just so… boring.

Have you ever tried homemade infused water? It’s so simple to make, aids in weight loss, and will help break dependence on sugary drinks. There are water infusion bottles available on the market, but you don’t need a fancy bottle to get the benefits and great taste. Just use a glass container- such as a mason jar- and fill with water and selected fruits/vegetables/herbs.

You can pretty much add in whatever you want; you can’t go wrong!

Here are a couple of my favorite recipes to get you started:

Cooling Citrus:

-1/4 sliced cucumber

-1/2 sliced lemon

-1/2 sliced lime

-5 mint leaves

-1 1/2 quarts of water

Brew overnight and enjoy at room temperature.

Orange Ginger Spice

-1 sliced orange

-2 slices of peeled ginger, cut about 1/8 inch

-12 oz water

-Dash cinnamon (use real cinnamon if possible)

Brew in cold water overnight

Raspberry Lime

-4 oz raspberries

-1/2 peeled lime

-32 oz water

Muddle fruit and add to water. Let sit in fridge for a few hours if possible.

There are countless recipes/ infusion ideas available online, so you will never get bored of the taste. You will get just as much flavor as you do with sodas, but you will feel so much better after drinking infused water instead. No artificial sugars and no preservatives. Your body will be properly hydrated and energized. Summer is the perfect time to give them a try!
